Size Guide
How to measure rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings at home — and how to order a piece made to your own measurement. Our jewelry is handmade to order, so in most cases you do not have to choose from a fixed size at all.
Ring Size
Ring sizes are given as an inner diameter and an inner circumference. The circumference is the most reliable way to measure at home, because it is what you can measure directly with a strip of paper. UK letter sizes and Japanese sizes below are approximate conversions.
| US | UK | EU | JP | Inner diameter | Circumference |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4 | H | 47 | 7 | 14.9 mm | 46.7 mm |
| 4.5 | I | 48 | 8 | 15.3 mm | 48.0 mm |
| 5 | J | 49 | 9 | 15.7 mm | 49.3 mm |
| 5.5 | K | 50 | 10 | 16.1 mm | 50.6 mm |
| 6 | L | 52 | 11 | 16.5 mm | 51.9 mm |
| 6.5 | M | 53 | 12 | 16.9 mm | 53.1 mm |

How to measure a ring size at home
- Cut a narrow strip of paper or use a piece of string, and wrap it around the finger at the base, where the ring will sit.
- Mark where the ends meet, then lay it flat and measure the length in millimetres. That is the circumference — compare it with the table above.
- If you already own a ring that fits well, measure its inner diameter across the widest inside point and use the diameter column.
- Measure at the end of the day, at room temperature. Fingers are smaller when cold and larger after exercise or in warm weather.
- If you land between two sizes, take the larger one. For a band about 6 mm wide or wider, consider half a size larger still.
- Knuckles matter: if your knuckle is noticeably larger than the base of your finger, the ring has to pass the knuckle, so measure both and expect the fit to be slightly loose at the base.
Every ring we make is made to order, so we can make any size including half sizes. Send your measurement — or your known size in any system — and we will build to it.
Bracelet Size
Bracelet length is your wrist measurement plus wearing ease. How much ease depends on how you like it to sit and on the design — large beads and stiff links need more room than a fine chain.
| Wrist | Close fit | Everyday fit | Loose fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| 13–14 cm | 14.5–15.5 cm | 15.5–16.5 cm | 16.5–17.5 cm |
| 15–16 cm | 16.5–17.5 cm | 17.5–18.5 cm | 18.5–19.5 cm |
| 17–18 cm | 18.5–19.5 cm | 19.5–20.5 cm | 20.5–21.5 cm |
| 19–20 cm | 20.5–21.5 cm | 21.5–22.5 cm | 22.5–23.5 cm |
How to measure your wrist
- Wrap a soft tape measure, a strip of paper or a piece of string around your wrist just above the wrist bone — where a bracelet normally sits.
- Mark where it meets, lay it flat and measure it. That is your wrist measurement.
- Add ease: 1.0–1.5 cm for a close fit, 1.5–2.0 cm for everyday wear, 2.0–2.5 cm for a loose fit or designs with large beads.
- Common finished lengths are 16 cm (small), 17.5 cm (medium) and 19 cm (large), but we make to your measurement rather than a stock size.
- If you want the bracelet to sit higher on the arm, tell us — the position changes the measurement we build to.
Necklace Length
Necklace length changes where the piece falls, and that changes how it looks with a neckline. The lengths below are measured as the full inner circumference of the chain, including the clasp.
| Length | Metric | Where it falls |
|---|---|---|
| 14 in | 35 cm | Choker length — sits high and close around the neck. |
| 16 in | 40 cm | Sits just above the collarbone. A delicate, high position. |
| 18 in | 45 cm | Falls just below the collarbone — the most versatile length for most necklines. |
| 20 in | 50 cm | Falls a few centimetres below the collarbone, over the top of the chest. |
| 22 in | 55 cm | Sits at or just below the neckline. Good with knitwear and open collars. |
| 24 in | 60 cm | Falls to the middle of the chest. Works for larger pendants. |
| 28 in | 71 cm | Long length, falls below the chest. Often worn doubled. |
| 32 in | 81 cm | Extra long — worn as a single long strand or wrapped twice. |
Choosing a length
- 35–40 cm — high, delicate, just above or on the collarbone. Suits open necklines and small pendants.
- 45 cm — the most versatile length for most people and most necklines. The safe choice for a gift.
- 50–60 cm — falls over the chest; better for larger pendants and for layering over knitwear.
- Layering — choose lengths at least 5 cm apart so the strands separate instead of tangling.
- Pendants — the same stone can be hung on a fine silver chain, leather, waxed cotton or a textile collar. Each option changes where and how it falls.
Earring Length and Weight
Two things decide whether earrings are comfortable: how long they hang and how much they weigh per ear. Length is measured from the point where the fitting enters the ear to the lowest point of the drop.
| Type | Length | How it wears |
|---|---|---|
| Studs and small drops | Up to 1.5 cm | Sit on the lobe. Comfortable all day and suit most necklines. |
| Short drops | 2–3 cm | Visible movement, still light enough for everyday wear. |
| Mid-length drops | 4–6 cm | Noticeable movement. Comfortable for most people for several hours. |
| Statement drops | 7 cm and above | Occasion pieces. Heavier by nature — better for shorter periods. |
- Weight — under about 3 g per earring is comfortable for most people all day. Above roughly 5 g per earring, many people feel pulling by the evening.
- Fittings — hooks, studs, clip-ons and wraps. Tell us before production if you need clip-ons or if your ears are sensitive.
- We can lighten a design by simplifying its components if you want to wear it for long periods.
Ordering a Custom Measurement
Almost everything we make is made to order, which means the size is decided before production rather than chosen from stock. This is how it works:
- If you do not have a tape measure, a strip of paper and a ruler are enough.
- A photo of a piece you already own, worn at the length you like, is often easier than a number.
- If you are buying as a gift and do not know the size, tell us — we will suggest the most forgiving option or make the piece adjustable where the design allows it.
- Standard making time is up to 30 days. Rush making, when we have capacity and you confirm it, is about 10 days. Shipping time is additional.
Questions
Are these measurements the exact size of the jewelry?
No. This is a general sizing reference. Each product page lists the measurements of that specific piece where they are known. If a measurement is not listed, or you need one confirmed before ordering, email sale@trijora.com and we will measure the actual piece for you.
Can you make a piece to my exact measurement?
Yes — almost everything we make is made to order. Send your wrist measurement, ring size or the length you want, and we will build to it. Details are confirmed with you before production starts.
Which ring size should I choose if I am between sizes?
Choose the larger size. If the band is wide — roughly 6 mm or more — consider going half a size larger still, because a wider band covers more of the finger and fits more snugly.
Do hands change size?
Yes. Fingers are usually larger at the end of the day, in warm weather, and after exercise or salty food, and smaller in the cold. Measure at the end of a normal day at room temperature for the most reliable result.
How much ease should a bracelet have?
Add 1.0–1.5 cm to your wrist measurement for a close fit, 1.5–2.0 cm for a comfortable everyday fit, and 2.0–2.5 cm if you like it loose or the design has large beads.
What necklace length is safest as a gift?
45 cm (18 in). It falls just below the collarbone and suits most necklines and body types. Choose 40 cm for a higher, more delicate position, or 55–60 cm for wearing over knitwear.
Can I get earrings as clip-ons?
On most designs, yes. Tell us before production and we will fit clips instead of hooks. If you have sensitive ears, tell us that too and we will use a suitable fitting.
What if the size is wrong when it arrives?
Contact us. Because each piece is made to order, what can be adjusted depends on the design — some can be resized, shortened or re-strung, and some cannot. We will tell you honestly which applies before you send anything back.
